Give every mover the same inventory
Include bulky, fragile and unusually heavy items, approximate box count and items needing dismantling. Photos or a survey can reduce changes caused by an incomplete first estimate.
Describe access at both addresses
Confirm lifts, stairs, walking distance, loading access, parking, building rules and timing restrictions. Ask who is responsible for any building booking, deposit or protection requirement.
Get scope and exceptions in writing
The quote should state packing materials, dismantling, assembly, disposal, storage, extra trips and waiting time. Also ask how damage is reported and what documentation is required.
